Hajj scam: SC orders compensation to pilgrims of 5 Makatib

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday directed the authorities concerned for providing compensation money to the affected Hajj pilgrims of five Makatib ( five blocks of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia) within a week, Geo News reported.

Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary heard the Hajj scam case here.

CJ in his remarks said if DG FIA could not investigate into the matter he should handover the case to government otherwise the court would issue its order.

The court was stunned over not recording statement of Interior Minister Rehman Malik by the FIA, and directed the authorities concerned to give compensation money to the Hujjaj of five Makatib within a week.

Ministry of Religious Affairs’ prosecutor Lateef Khosa stated that two ministers were sacked on the court orders, adding that the opposing party is demanding removal of the Prime Minister.
