PML-N ultimatum persists: Ahsan

LAHORE: Central information secretary of Pakistan Muslim League-N Ahsan Iqbal, in reaction to Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s rejoining the coalition government on Friday, said that the ultimatum issued by his party to the government persists.

Talking to Geo News, Ahsan Iqbal said today’s development proved what Nawaz Sharif had said earlier. “It has been proved that it was a puppet show of which Nawaz Sharif had categorically denied to be a part of,” he said.

He said the PML-N’s ultimatum to the government persists and if the government fails to address the issues highlighted by his party, PML-N will have no other option but remove Pakistan People’s Party from Punjab set up.

However, he hoped that if the government attaches importance to the interests of the country and people, it would ‘say yes’ to the PML-N’s demands.

To a question why Nawaz Sharif had to issue ultimatum to the government at a time when two parties MQM and JUI-F had quit government, Ashan Iqbal said Nawaz Sharif had to make this move when he received no positive response from the government to the letter he had written earlier to the president.

When asked to comment on Babar Awan’s remarks, he denied to comment on it saying: “I would not give any comments on views of Babar Awan who is presently out to secure himself the position of governor (Punjab).”
