Ishaq for curtailing Cabinet size

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Ishaq Dar Sunday said the size of the (Federal) Cabinet should not be bigger than 35 ministers and that an initiative can be taken towards a turn-around of the country’s economy in 45 days.

Speaking in Geo News program ‘Jawab Deh’, Ishaq Dar held responsible what he called ‘poor performance’ of the governments over the past 10 years for the dilapidated condition of the economy.

He said he had given a few suggestions to the government for bringing about economic recovery. “If the government acts on these suggestions, there will be no need for burdening the people with additional taxes,” he added.

He pointed out that total line losses of the country’s energy sector amount to 40 percent and that a lot of electricity can be saved by reducing these losses. Power supply of areas with highest level of pilferage be suspended, he added.

Ishaq Dar further said that the government departments be cleansed of corrupt people and the management of state organizations running in losses can be changed.
