Biden condoles with Salmaan Taseer’s family

ISLAMABAD: United States Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday called Aamna Taseer, widow of slain Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, to express his condolences on behalf of US President Barack Obama and the American people. Commenting on the assassination of Taseer at the hands of his own bodyguard for supporting changes in the blasphemy law, Biden said the US was “saddened by cold-blooded murder of a decent, brave man”. “The governor was killed simply because he was a voice of tolerance and understanding,” he said, adding that there was no justification for such a “senseless act”. “As you know all too well ... societies that tolerate such actions end up being consumed by those actions,” the vice president added. reuters
