PM reshuffles top bureaucracy

LAHORE: The government has announced major reshuffle in the top bureaucracy while Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, reportedly, has also decided to make changes in the Foreign Ministry to deal with challenges faced by the country at international level, a private TV channel reported on Saturday.
As per reports, Establishment Division Secretary Khushnood Ali Lashari has been appointed as new principal secretary to the prime minister. He will also look after an additional charge of Information Technology secretary.
Also, PM’s principal secretary, Nargis Sethi, has been appointed Cabinet Division secretary. She would hold an additional charge of health secretary. Nargis has been given the new posting on her personal request, according to sources.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Division Secretary Abdul Rauf has been posted and appointed Establishment Division secretary. Rauf will hold an additional charge of Information Technology secretary.
Salman Bashir, currently working as foreign secretary, will be appointed as high commissioner to India, while Pakistan’s ambassador to Germany, Shahid Kamal, will be made foreign secretary. Additional Secretary Ishtiaq Hussain Andrabi will succeed Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Umer Khan Ali Sherzai. Additional secretary to the Foreign Ministry, Muhammad Aslam, is being appointed as ambassador to Algeria, Director General Amjad Abbasi as ambassador to Syria, Director General Tehmina Janjua as ambassador to Switzerland and Director General Sarfraz Khanzada is being posted to Qatar.
Reports say that the PM has approved a one-year extension in the service of Pakistan’s ambassador to France, Shafqat Saeed.
