Massive arrests for violating pillion riding ban
KARACHI: After the ban on pillion riding no target killer has been captured yet, however, at least 500 citizens have been taken into custody after violating the ban, Daily Times learnt on Monday. According to details, the public protested the seven-day restriction on pillion riding, imposed after the recent target killings. Police and rangers instead of focusing on catching target killers have been focusing on arresting ban violators. It is pertinent to mention that police arrested at least 500 citizens from various areas of Karachi and seized at least 82 motorcycles. East Commandant DIG Shaukat told Daily Times that police has increased patrolling. Police has been ordered to be vigilant, he added. Meanwhile, Sindh interior minister announced a host of directives for the police, including a ban on wall chalking, pillion riding, display of weapons, aerial firings, etc. staff report
