KESC employees protest enter second day
KARACHI: Protests against the sacking of more than 4000 Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) employees continued for the second day Friday, Geo News reported Friday.The government intervened today to resolve the issue after it went out of control. The employees staged sit in outside KESC head office where the leaders belonging to different political parties and labour unions spoke in support of them.
Sindh CM has constituted a four-member committee to be headed by provincial minister Shazia Marri to look into the matter and another important meeting has been scheduled to be held at the Sindh Governor House. Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebat would chair the meeting also attended by Federal Minister Farooq Sattar and KESC CEO Tabish Gauhar.
Parties who showed their support include, Muttahia Qaumi Movement (MQM), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and others.
PPP Information Secretary Fauzia Wahab and Sindh Minister Shazia Marri met the protestors and expressed sympathy.
MQM's Haider Abbas Rizvi also came to the scene and spoke to the sacked employees.
