Loadshedding to stay for years: DG PEPCO

LAHORE: DG PEPCO Engineer Muhammad Khalid Saturday ruled out possibility of overcoming the problem of loadshedding for many years in future, however, efforts are underway to keep the shortfall at its minimum.

Briefing on the situation of power and water here, DG PEPCO said no timeframe could be given for elimination of loadshedding.

The top most priority, he said, was to provide power supply to the industry and agriculture sector. However, he added that uninterrupted provision of electricity to the domestic consumers was not the priority.

He said it was not immediately possible to bring down the power tariff given the rising price of furnace oil.

Exporting sector including the Textiles has been exempted from loadshedding so that the export target of Rs20 billion could be achieved, DG PEPCO said.
