US donates equipment worth Rs 80 million to KP police

PESHAWAR: United States donated 12 pick-up trucks, six personnel carriers, three water tankers, and two recovery vehicles valued at Rs 80 million ($938,000) to improve the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police mobility. These vehicles will support the KP police including the Elite Force in their mission to protect the local population. The vehicles were accepted on behalf of the police by KP Inspector General Fiaz Toru on Friday, said an official statement issued here. Acting US Consul General in Peshawar Constance Arvis remarked: “The US appreciates the sacrifices and bravery of the KP police in protecting the people of Peshawar and the entire province. We understand the challenges you face, and we hope the provision of these vehicles and other equipment we are supplying will help with your important work.” staff report
