Petition moved against Sharmila Farooqui, her father’s eligibility

ISLAMABAD: A constitutional petition was moved in the apex court on Monday challenging the eligibility of Sharmila Farooqui, the adviser to the Sindh CM, and her father Usman Farooqui, the principal secretary to the president, from holding any public office.

The petition was filed by the Al-Jihad Trust through its chairman Habibul Wahabul Khairi under Article 184(3) of the constitution that made the federal government through the law secretary, Sindh through its chief secretary, NAB chairman, National Savings DG, Usman Farooqui, former chairman Pakistan Steel Mills and incumbent principal secretary to the president and the State Bank through its governor respondents in the petition.

The petitioner said the SC had taken suo motu notice of “misdeeds” of Sharmila Farooqui and called a reply from the NAB chairman, which had so far not been filed.
