War against terrorism to continue, says Iftikhar
Staff Report
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Tuesday war against terrorism would continue till it was completely crushed and peace restored.
“We’ll chase terrorists to the end and wipe them out. People hate them,” said Iftikhar while addressing a seminar organised to pay tributes to the late Malik Saad, capital city police officer (CCPO) Peshawar who was killed in a bomb blast four years ago.
Malik Saad Trust organised the death anniversary programme of the late police chief.
The information minister, also the spokesman for the provincial government, said nobody would be safe if terrorists were not exterminated. He said the police image was rising due to the sacrifices of police officials in the war against terrorism. “It’s great to offer sacrifice to save others,” said Iftikhar.
Paying tributes to the late Malik Saad, Iftikhar said people would not bow down to terrorists and instead prefer shahadat. He said Malik Saad was a brave and courageous police officer who played an important role against terrorism. “We are proud of him,” said the minister. Minister for Sports, Tourism and Culture Syed Aqil Shah also paid tributes to the late police officer.
Later talking to the media, the government spokesman said Bacha Khan, the late founder of the Khudai Khidmatgar Movement whose death anniversary is being observed on Wednesday (today), was a great leader who fought war of independence against the British. Iftikhar said Bacha Khan, the Red Shirts leader, defeated the British without violence.
Iftikhar vowed the followers of Bacha Khan would spread his philosophy of non-violence across the world to restore peace.
The minister said Khan Abdul Wali Khan, the late Awami National Party (ANP) rahbar and son of Bacha Khan, played an important role in the country’s politics as an opposition leader.
Separately, the information minister inaugurated the internet café at the Peshawar Press Club by cutting the ribbon. Secretary Information Azmat Hanif Orakzai and the press club office bearers were present. Iftikhar talked to journalists getting training in information technology and discussed different matters. Iftikhar termed the net café a good addition to the press club.
