PML-N MNA seeks NA's right sizing
ISLAMABAD: A PML-N MNA Rana Tanveer Thursday suggested to 'right-size' the National Assembly while the lawmakers of Pakistan Muslim League - Q Attiya Inayatullah and Shahnaz Sheikh demanded the removal of NICL investigation officer.
PML-Q members pointed out that the manager of Moonis Elahi gave statement under duress. They also expressed dissatisfaction over the appointment of Zafar Ahmed Qureshi as inquiry officer of Moonis Elahi in NICL case and questioned his partiality.
The PML-N member pointed out that the expenses amplified after the number of parliamentarians increased to 342.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Syed Sumsam Ali Bukhari informed the NA that five councils were operating in the country to address complaints against television channels and cable operators.
Responding to different supplementary questions, the minister said these councils had disposed of 540 complaints during past four months, which speaks about their performance and effectiveness.
He said there were about 2500 cable operators across the country and PEMRA keeps monitoring their services and imposes fine in accordance with violation committed by them.
National Assembly while incorporating amendment proposed by Opposition in clause-2 of the bill unanimously passed the Boiler and Pressure Vessels (Amendment) Bill 2009.
Minister for Industries and Production Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani had moved the bill to amend the Boiler and Pressure Vessels Ordinance 2002 (The Boilers and Pressure Vessels Amendment Bill 2009) in the House on Wednesday.
