FIA summons Moonis in NICL scam case
LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued a summon to Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, son of former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi, in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) corruption case, a private TV channel reported on Wednesday.
As per sources, Moonis has been summoned at the FIA’s Lahore office on Thursday (today). An accused in the scam had, in his statement, maintained that the Al-Tahoor Company withdrew a sum of Rs 220 million through a fake bank account of its manager, Muhammad Malik, the channel quoted the sources as saying.
According to Malik, the amount of Rs 220 million was then paid to Moonis Elahi.
Following his statement, the apex court ordered a probe into the matter, the channel said. Meanwhile, Punjab Parliamentary Secretary Dr Saeed Elahi said on Wednesday, “Moonis has managed to flee from the country with the connivance of some highly influential persons.” He alleged that he fled to evade his arrest under the charges of corruption, fraud and extortion. daily times monitor/app
