Politics of ‘blame game’ should end: Gilani
* Prime minister says politicians fighting with each other always help ‘others’ to grab the power

LAHORE: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the politics of ‘blame game’ and ‘corruption charges’ against each other should be avoided, as it will benefit ‘others’ aspiring to come in power.
Gilani was addressing PPP’s provincial level meeting, held at Punjab Governor’s House here on Sunday. President Asif Ali Zardari’s sister and PPP Youth Wing In-charge Faryal Talpur, Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa, PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, and others were present.
Addressing the meeting, PM said that a chance should be given to the democratic governments, as there was a need of continuity in policies to bring the nation out of crises. He said that Pakistan was also facing problems after the recent international economic crisis but he would take up the matter of gas and petrol price hike in the federal cabinet meeting.
He further stated that his government had always respected the judiciary and its decision, as his government had restored the judiciary. Party sources said that while declaring the year 2012 on its first day as the ‘Year of Workers’, Gilani announced that PPP would facilitate its workers in all means.
Presiding over the meeting, PM also accepted the demand of issuance of 5 arms licences of prohibited bores each to the executive body of PPP Punjab and announced to meet them twice in a month. He said federal development funds would be spent in Punjab with the consultancy of party office bearers.
PM also heard the grievances of MPAs regarding non-issuance of the development funds from PML-N. Gilani also directed the party leader Ch Manzoor from Kasur to hold public meeting in Kasur district with in next two weeks and later to hold rallies in six divisions of the province.
Gilani said that PPP was the most popular party against its opponents and this would be proved in next by-polls. Earlier, PM attended the collective marriages ceremony of 50 couples, organized by the Amir Begum Welfare Trust (ABWT) at Expo Centre and distributed Rs 10,000 to each couple. On this happy occasion, Punjab Governor Latif Khan Khosa, his wife, Fiza Batool Gilani, daughter of the PM, federal minister Manzoor Wattoo, his daughter Robina Shaheen Wattoo, Chairperson ABWT Zamurrad Khan, MD Baitul Mal Pakistan, and Begum Shehnaz Wazir Ali were also present.
Addressing the newlywed couples, PM said that the welfare of poor people was top priority of the government and it would continue its policies for the improvement of their living standard. He said that previous governments had ignored issues of deprived people of the country but the
PPP-led government initiated several revolutionary welfare projects.
