Ijaz submits BlackBerry PIN to memo commission

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz has submitted his BlackBerry Personal Identification Number (PIN) to the commission investigating the memogate scandal. Mansoor Ijaz has submitted an application on Friday to the judicial commission for identifying the forensic specialist for visiting Berkshire, England server as well as Irving, Texas, USA server for collection of the requisite data of BlackBerry conversation between Husain Haqqani and him. Akram Sheikh, the counsel of Mansoor Ijaz, submitted that his client had offered waiving of his privacy rights and he submitted two of his BlackBerry PIN codes, 2100A04F and 21A5EC74, which were used from October 28 to November 4 during chat exchanges. He also submitted the pin number of Husain Haqqani as well, which are allegedly 2326A31D and 287EF1E9. Akram Sheikh requested the commission to direct the counsel general of Pakistan at its High Commission in London to immediately issue Mansoor Ijaz the necessary visa to visit Pakistan. He requested the commission to direct designated functionaries to issue process to the Chief Legal Officer of Research in Motion (RIM) and the heads of the European and USA divisions of RIM, the Canada-based service provider of BlackBerry Messenger, where the servers are located and that this task may be directed to be completed within one week. He said that the commission should consider that Mansoor was coming to depose contrary to an apparently conflicting point of view with the federal government, therefore relevant agencies of the federation should be ordered to take all possible measures for his safety and security. “The applicant is also willing to submit his handsets to this commission for forensic investigation under an agreed upon procedure with this commission’s forensic specialists,” he said. The commission has summoned President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Inter-Services Intelligence Director General Ahmed Shuja Pasha and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif on January 9. staff report
