Firdaus directed to highlight govt achievements

ISLAMABAD: As political parties’ criticism of the government intensifies, President Asif Ali Zardari Saturday directed Information Minister Dr. Firdaus Ashiq Awan to highlight the achievements of the government during the last four years

Dr Firdaus called on President Zardari at the Presidency and briefed him about the working of the Information Ministry. The president stressed the need for highlighting the government’s achievements in various sectors during the past four years, in both the print and electronic media. President Zardari pointed out various achievements of the present government, including Benazir Income Support Programme, empowering workers by giving them 12 percent shares in state run entities, 18th Constitutional Amendment and NFC award. The president added that the government had also taken a number of initiatives to overcome the power and energy crisis, tackle the challenge of terrorism, effectively deal with the issue of IDPs and to put the economy back on track despite natural calamities of unprecedented nature.
