Perpetrators of memogate should be exposed: Nawaz
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Monday termed the secret memo scandal a conspiracy against the country’s integrity, urging the court to unmask culprits behind the scandal.
Talking to reporters outside the Islamabad High Court after appearing before the memo investigation commission, he said that the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) was not working on the memogate issue. He said that his party Senator Ishaq Dar did not want to sit in the parliamentary committee on the memo issue but he did so on the insistence of PCNS chairman Senator Mian Raza Rabbani.
Nawaz said he had moved the Supreme Court on the memo issue without blaming President Asif Ali Zardari or Husain Haqqani in the petition.
He said that he only appealed to the court for exposing the culprits who were involved in memogate scandal. He said that he appeared before the commission for investigation on memo scandal and he was again ready to appear before it if he was called.
The PML-N chief said his party would move the Supreme Court again if the government did not write a letter to Swiss authorities. inp
