Move Swiss courts if cases against Zardari fake, PML-N tells govtStaff Report
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday called upon the government to move Swiss courts if it believed the corruption cases were fake.
Following the Supreme Court order on the NRO implementation case, PML-N Deputy General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal said that the government, instead of implementing the apex court verdict on the NRO, had started making the mockery of the judiciary and the people.
Ahsan dubbed the NRO as ‘black law’, saying it doesn’t have any example in the country’s history. He said that due to the reason the PML-N strongly opposed the NRO inside parliament and even coalition partners of the PPP did not extend their support at the time when it tried to pass it from the National Assembly.
Ahsan said that his party also challenged the NRO in the apex court, adding that the government was intentionally delaying implementation on the NRO verdict given by the apex court. He asked the government to approach Swiss courts if its government believes that cases against President Asif Ali Zardari were baseless.
“If the government considers cases against President Zardari as baseless, then why is it hesitant to approach the Swiss courts,” Ahsan was quoted by the PML-N central media office as saying. “The government was reluctant even to approach Swiss courts, as it knows that it will not be able to defend President Zardari before Swiss courts,” he remarked.
He said that the decisive moment had reached now where the government would not be able to defend its alleged corruption furthermore and 180 million people would also not tolerate them any more. Referring to Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s allegation about Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N leader said that the documents presented by interior minister were the same presented by Musharraf’s lawyers before Supreme Court upon his return from exile, which the apex court had already rejected and allowed Sharif brothers to return home. “The return of Sharif brothers from exile and their forced send-off by the then government proved that the PML-N leadership was on forced exile,” he added.
