Imran Khan has establishment’s support: PTI Nazriati

Staff Report

LAHORE: It seems that cracks have finally started appearing in the relatively new party on the horizon i.e Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). With its continuous inclusion of bigwigs from other political parties, some ‘ideologists’ in the PTI are unhappy; saying the party has become a tool of western lobbies and adding all the feudal lords, looters, turncoats, timeservers, Legharis and Makhdooms into the party.

Those who got off Imran’s bandwagon are PTI’s central media committee member Aktar Iqbal Dar and Lahore’s Additional General Secretary Rana Usama Shakoor Khan.

Both the leaders addressed a news conference at Lahore Press Club on Wednesday where many other party members were also present who were reportedly unhappy with Imran Khan. They said Imran Khan’s recent rise was not possible without the support of the establishment, which was the real ruling power in the country.

According to them, this latent force was pressurising many politicians to join PTI. They said the party, which was a symbol of change and hope, after the successful rallies of Lahore and Karachi, converted into a group of same old faces. They also announced the formation of new faction with the name of PTI Nazriati (Ideological). They said that Imran Khan that forced them to part ways, saying he ignored them along with many other veteran leaders and it was his attitude that led to the decision.

According to sources, PTI founding leaders and workers were dejected over the situation that the newly joined people had been placed on important positions, sidelining the ideological workers.

They said Imran must stick to his mantra of bringing the change through ‘clean and new’ faces. PTI chief has huge following among the masses but he can’t win if that ‘following’ does not transform into the electoral front. They said the path that Imran was following would take him nowhere.

Sources reveal that PTI would never make public the conditions on which it was accepting politicians.

According to them, some of the bigwigs had joined the PTI on certain conditions, including that all their group members be accepted into the party and they be given party tickets to contest elections in their respective constituencies.

It is said that many of the new comers were the ones who were a part of the Musharraf regime and his pro-US policy in the ‘war on terror’ and they would definitely influence the PTI’s policies after coming to power.

Imran would face a serious challenge in bringing a change along with these ‘electables’ whose sole aim is power and moneymaking and always want to be on the winning side.

The presence of bunch of feudals in the party would damage the PTI in coming days. The people would vote in favour of Imran Khan for bringing a change but Imran would be unable to ignore the feudals’ interests.
