MQM to support pro-democracy resolution in NA

KARACHI: The parliamentary leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in National Assembly (NA) Dr Farooq Sattar has said that his party would support the Awami National Party (ANP) chief’s resolution in parliament. Briefing the media after a meeting with the Interior Minister Rehman Malik at Sindh Governor House here on Sunday, he said that the NA will discuss ANP’s resolution in support of democracy on Monday (today) and MQM supports it. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Dr Farooq Sattar and Hyder Abbas Rizvi were also present in the meeting. Meanwhile, a Governor House statement said that the interior minister discussed prevailing law and order situation of the province in meeting. The participants expressed the resolve that no stone would be left unturned in improving security situation. Malik and Dr Khan also reviewed the performance of law enforcement agencies and appreciated their contributions. They said that the personnel of law enforcement agencies were sacrificing their lives in the line of duty and the government would not leave their families stranded. staff report
