PTI to award tickets on merit, says Punjab president

* Ahsan Rasheed says PTI believes in democracy and will definitely emerge as the biggest party in the next polls

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab President Ahsan Rasheed has said that his party believed in democracy and the tickets in next general elections would be awarded on merit and after thorough scrutiny.

He was addressing a press conference during which a PPP leader from Jhang, Rana Attaullah Khan, announced his decision to quit the PPP and join the PTI. PTI Senior Vice President Hamid Khan, Central Vice President Admiral (r) Javed Iqbal, PTI CEC member Air Vice Marshal (r) Shahid Zulifqar and PTI political committee president Mian Muhammad Azhar were also present on the occasion.

Ahsan Rasheed said that the addition of Rana Attaullah will strengthen the party in Faisalabad and the PTI would definitely emerge as the biggest party in the next polls in Faisalabad. He said the educated people were joining the party. Rasheed said PTI would not ignore senior party workers but decision of awarding tickets would be taken by the PTI parliamentary board and if anybody was claiming to have secured a ticket then he was lying. He said, “Day by day more people were joining the party and now the PTI has capable people who could run the national institutions.”

Talking about PTI Nazriati, he said that Akhtar Iqbal Dar and Usama Rana were expelled from the party around six months ago by the disciplinary committee. He said people were joining the PTI on Imran’s conditions and nobody could influence party’s manifesto. Rana Attaullah said no political party or leader has the ability to change the system except for Imran. He said he was impressed by Imran’s vision whom was a ray of hope in bleak political scenario. He said the PTI would emerge as large political force if free and fair election were held in the country. He said he has trust in the leadership of Imran Khan and joined struggle for a positive change in the country. He said that he would play an active role to support change in society and would spread the message of PTI.
