PM, family meet Arfa Karim’s parents

LAHORE: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, along with his wife Fauzia Gilani and daughter Fizza Batool Gilani, met Arfa Karim’s parents to condole her death at their residence on Sunday.

On this occasion, the prime minister told the media that his daughter had also inquired after the health of Arfa Karim at the hospital, and they (he and his family) had been in telephonic contact with Arfa’s family but, unfortunately, she lost the battle of life.

The prime minister paid homage to the world’s youngest Pakistani Microsoft Certified Professional and said that she had brought laurels to Pakistan. He said he had also approved a postal stamp of Arfa Karim that would help conveying a soft image of country to the world.

Arfa’s father Lt Col (r) Amjad Karim Randhawa told the prime minister that they had already formed Arfa Karim Foundation. The prime minister assured her parents that the government would establish the foundation or dedicate another well-established institution where Arfa’s parents would promote the work of the young IT expert.

To a question, he said, the government was also considering conferring a civil award to Arfa Karim. app
