All crises facing country are artificial, says Chandio
* Law minister says pro-establishment forces never created crisis to embarrass dictators
By Mohammad Zafar
QUETTA: Federal Law Minister Mir Moula Bakhsh Chandio has claimed that the political and other crises in the country are man-made and artificial.
Talking to reporters, he recalled the misrule of military dictators, saying that pro-establishment forces had never created any crisis to embarrass any military dictator, nor did those governments face artificial problems “created for vested interests”. Referring to Mansoor Ijaz, Chandio said he is a US national and was committed to defending American interests. “The memo scandal has no roots, and it will soon deflate.” “The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government has the capability to face and overcome all crises, as it is enjoying the support of the people of Pakistan,” he said. The law minister said the government would complete its tenure, but admitted that the demand for early elections was the right of political parties in any democratic society. The opinions expressed by Farahnaz Ispahani, wife of Husain Haqqani, over the country’s secret agency were her own and had nothing to do with party policies, Chandio said.
Commenting on Balochistan, Chandio said violence was not a solution to any problem. “The PPP leadership apologised and wants to bring the Baloch people into the mainstream. The government is ready to hold talks and negotiations with the angry Baloch leadership. However, violence from either side has remained a hindrance in addressing their grievances,” he said. Earlier, he had denied reports regarding his resignation.
