Oxford to launch book on aftermath of partition

LAHORE: Oxford University Press will launch its publication, ‘Partition and Locality: Violence, Migration, and Development in Gujranwala and Sialkot, 1947–1961’, written by Ilyas Chattha. The book provides original and challenging insights into the processes of violence, demographic transformation, and physical reconstruction arising in Gujranwala and Sialkot following partition of the subcontinent in 1947. Dr Yaqoob Khan Bangash, Professor Imran Ali, Professor Iqbal Chawla, Dr Ilyas Chattha, and Tariq Haq will speak at the launch today (Friday), at the Oxford Bookshop. pr
