By Haris Hanif

KARACHI: Sunni Tehreek (ST) Chief Sarwat Ejaz Qadri has announced that his party would mark the initiation of its political activities from the public gathering, scheduled to be held on 23rd March at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore and the party’s new name would be Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST).

Addressing a conference entitled ‘Janisaran-e-Pakistan’ on Sunday, he warned the authorities that his party workers would besiege the Governor House and Chief Minister House on Monday if the assassinators of their workers, shot dead this morning (Sunday), are not arrested within 24 hours.

Qadri said that PST would work for the betterment of poor people and elimination of extremism from Pakistan if came to power. “PST will participate from countrywide in the upcoming general election”, he noted.

He said that people had talked about ‘tsunamis’ of music, enlightenment and false beliefs, however, his party was going to bring the ‘tsunami’ of the lovers of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“The Tsunami of corruption, unemployment, load-shedding, inflation and terrorism has ruined the country. PST will eliminate these menaces from the country. We have no foreign accounts and lovers of Mohammad (PBUH) are our great asset,” he added.

The ST chief maintained that a famous party in Punjab was providing oxygen to the terrorists and their banned outfits. He alleged that three leaders of these organisations were living in Punjab and the Punjab government was issuing scholarships to the terrorists of banned outfits.

Qadri said the establishment had created leaders and those who cursed the establishment were also its brainchild. On the occasion, ST chief appealed to the Sindh governor, chief minister, home minister and federal interior minister to take effective security measures for the processions scheduled on the eve of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Haji Hanif Tayyab, Syed Turrab-ul-Haq Qasmi and other leaders of the ST also spoke on the occasion.
