SC moved for ban on politics by Qadri, Altaf

LAHORE: Watan Party chief Barrister Zafarullah has filed a petition in the Supreme Court requesting it to stop Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahirul Qadri and MQM chief Altaf Hussain from political activities in Pakistan for being foreign nationals. He moved the petition on Monday in the Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court. He stated that Qadri is a Canadian national and Altaf a British, and being foreign nationals they cannot take part in political activities in Pakistan. He alleged that they owe no allegiance to Pakistan and are acting on foreign dictates. Zafarullah stated that Qadri is violating Article 62 of the constitution by not being sagacious, righteous and honest man. He stated that in 1990, Justice Akhtar Hassan’s commission found Qadri a person who arranged alleged murder attack on him, accusing the Punjab government on April 21, 1990. He stated that now Qadri has threatened to break up the democratic setup and was violating articles 6, 6, 8, 9, 62, 17, and 67 of the constitution. staff report
