Will not allow any measure against sovereignty: CJ

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said Thursday no measure against the sovereignty of the country would be allowed.

A three member bench of the apex court headed by the Chief Justice heard the petition by Sardar Ghazi regarding the role of the media during the Abbottabad operation.

The lawyer for the petitioner, Raja Arshad said he wanted to read the statement Husain Haqqani gave to the Abbottabad commission. Haqqani had said he was asked to travel back to Washington when he arrived in London and defend the Pakistani government, armed forces and intelligence agencies over the presence of Osama bin Laden in the country.

Chief Justice Chaudhry remarked why the lawyer was after the sovereignty of the country and a matter which has finished should not be brought up again. The chief justice also asked what the motive behind the petition was.
