‘Remote-controlled’ people befooling masses: Nawaz
* PML-N chief says undemocratic forces have brought country at the verge of destruction
* Democracy will be protected at all costs
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said “remote-controlled people” were befooling the people by talking about electoral reforms and bringing change in the country, adding that their nefarious agenda would be foiled.
Nawaz made the statement in a meeting with Jamiat Ahle Hadith chief Senator Sajid Mir, who called on the former in Jatti Umra. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the prevailing political situation and other current issues of the country. They also agreed to cooperate in strengthening democracy and to resolve the problems facing the people. They also stressed upon holding the general elections on schedule, according to the constitution. During the meeting, Nawaz said institutions of the country could not be strengthened without democracy. The PML-N chief said that democracy would be protected at any cost and general elections would be held on time. He said that undemocratic forces have brought the country to the verge of destruction, with increase in terrorism, inflation and unemployment. The PML-N chief further said that only democracy can safeguard the integrity of the country, without which it cannot move on the path of development and progress. agencies
