ANP decides to convene APC to end terrorism
PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) has decided to convene an all parties conference (APC) to outline a national policy to end terrorism in the country, Geo News reported Monday.
Sources said that the issue of Taliban’s offer for talks and the conditions the militia set up for negotiations would come under discussion in the APC.
The sources said that the ANP leadership was contacting political leadership in the country over its plane to convene the parley to coup with the menace of terrorism haunting the country.
They said that Ghulam Ahmed Bilour had contacted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Chief and former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to invite him to the conference and got a positive response. Nawaz welcomed the ANP proposal to convene such a meeting. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the Jamaat-e-Islami also welcomed the ANP’s plan, the sources added.
According to the sources ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan had talked to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf over the issue and would soon contact the MQM and PML-Q leadership.
ANP leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain told Geo News that the military leadership would also be contacted in this regard.
