PPP has done best for minorities: Chawla
KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla on Sunday said present Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government had taken various steps for the protection of minorities’ rights and done a record development/upgradation of their worship places and other religious buildings.
He was talking to a delegation of minorities here at his camp office, said an official statement. The minister said that huge amount had been spent on maintenance and renovation works of religious buildings of minorities and government was trying to complete ongoing development schemes before March.
He said that President Asif Ali Zardari had decided to increase number of minorities’ seats in the national and provincial assemblies to ensure maximum representation of minorities. The proposed bill had been submitted in the national assembly, he said.
Chawla said the government was extending all possible support in resolving the minorities’ problems, especially of Hindu businessmen and doctors. There was no exodus of minority people from Sindh. app
