Nilofar Bakhtiar recognised for her outstanding services

NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD: Distinguished politician and activist Nilofar Bakhtiar was recognised for her outstanding services at an award giving ceremony at the Indian Parliament, New Dehli.

She was decorated with the Happy Women Happy World Award 2012 for humanitarian services along with other women leaders from India and Iran.

The award was a tribute to Nilofar Bakhtiar and others for their consistent service to human rights, gender and child rights and disaster management. The event was convened under the guidance of Jain monks who are globally recognised for their role in building peace and harmony. The chief guest of the evening was Padma Vibhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke while guest of honor were Justice Gyan Sudha Misra and Justice Ranjana Desai.

The award presenter was the legendary Asha Bhosle and the recipients included the Times Of India Group Chairperson Indu Jain and Jindal Group of Industries Chairperson Savitri Jindal, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and Delhi Education Minister Kiran Walia, Shameem Azad Amity University Chairperson Amita Chauhan, VLCC founder Vandana Luthra, Usha Jain, Nalini Chidambaram, Malti Sehgal and Nutan Jain and Iranian distinguished academic Professor Fatima Somavati received
