Federal govt swings into action

KARACHI: As victim Shia families refused to bury their dead after Thursday’s twin bombings in Quetta, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf took serious notice of the situation. The president has summoned senior party leadership of Balochistan for an important meeting at Bilawal House tomorrow (Monday). Raja, on the other hand, ordered the Frontier Corps (FC) to extend all-out assistance to the civil administration in the maintenance of law and order in Quetta. The prime minister also ordered to shift the injured to Karachi via a C-130 aircraft. He also asked Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani to return to his province from Dubai. He announced Rs 1 million each for those who were killed and Rs 100,000 for the injured people. Meanwhile, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also sent a delegation from Sindh to Quetta to assess the prevailing situation. The delegation consisted of Federal Law Minister Maula Bukhsh Chandio, PPP Sindh General Secretary Taj Haider, MNA Mir Aijaz Jakhrani and Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Shahela Raza. Bilawal also constituted a coordination committee, consisting of the party’s Quetta leadership, to monitor the situation. staff report/app
