Emergency imposed in hospitals of twin cities
ISLAMABAD: Emergency has been imposed in the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Polyclinic Hospital due to the Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) long march. Under the emergency plan, leaves of doctors and paramedics have been cancelled till January 18. Administrations of the hospitals have made arrangements for the doctors to dine and stay in the hospital for next 48 hours. The number of beds in the emergency departments and other wards of PIMS and Polyclinic hospital have been increased in order to deal with any untoward situation. In addition, the outdoor patient department (OPD) would remain operational during nights as well. Food, medicines and surgery equipment were arranged in abundance in the hospitals for the paramedic staff and patients. PIMS Executive Director Dr Zaheer Abassi was informed in a meeting regarding precautionary measures that 20 additional beds were arranged in the emergency department. Special teams of doctors were formed to cope with any emergency situations that might occur. Polyclinic Hospital Executive Director Dr Shaukat Kiani said that every department would be put on high alert during the time of the long march and the staff would remain on duty round the clock. Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and
