Altaf asks govt to accept Qadri’s demands

LONDON: MQM chief Altaf Hussain on Monday renewed his party’s support for the “legitimate” demands of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) chief Tahirul Qadri, terming them the voice of Pakistan. In a statement on Monday, he said that Qadri’s demands should be immediately accepted and that no hurdle should be created in his long march. “The manner in which the government reacted slowly to deal with the situation that developed in Quetta, same delaying tactics should not be used again. It will be good for democracy,” Altaf said. He opined that any further delay in accepting Qadri’s demands could further complicate the overall atmosphere. The MQM chief warned the government against using delaying tactics which, he said, could turn lead to a Quetta-like situation. He said that the MQM would continue its moral support for Qadri in eliminating the outdated feudal system. Altaf has said that Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf proved he was sagacious by imposing governor’s rule in Balochistan. He said had the government accepted earlier the demands of the bereaved families of victims of Quetta tragedy, their great plight and deep grief would not have been compounded. Altaf insisted that the appropriate demands put forward by Qadri should be accepted, like that of the Quetta’s bereaved families. agencies
