Musharraf says change would have come had he been in Kayani’s place

DUBAI: Former president Pervez Musharraf said on Tuesday if he had been in place of COAS Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, change would have occurred in the country.

“In the situation what is prevailing in the country, change would have come in the country had I been in place of General Kayani. I am looking into the situation with due consideration,” he said in a telephonic conversation with a private TV channel. Describing the long march by Tahirul Qadri successful, the former president said he had been extending full cooperation to Qadri from the very first day. It is a good omen that Qadri has raised voice in support of people’s rights. Addressing security forces, he said they are scions of Pakistani nation and their obligation is to defend the frontiers of country and maintain peace. I hope security forces will not rise against the nation and nor will any force be used against the nation, he remarked. The sitting rulers had lost their popularity, he said, adding they had no right to rule the country nor had they capability to run it. “I hope people will hold them accountable, he added. Musharraf said the PML-N had no potential to pull the country out of the crisis and only people can bring about change in the country. online
