MQM MPA Manzar Imam's funeral heldKARACHI: The funeral prayer of MQM MPA Manzar Imam and policemen was held at Jinnah Ground here on Friday.
The funeral prayer was attended by the leadership of the MQM, PPP, ANP and PML-N.
MQM leader Raza Haroon described the murder of Imam as an act of terrorism. Speaking to the media after the funeral prayer Haroon said MQM and its workers would not be scared from these tactics. “We can sacrifice our lives but cannot bow our heads to terrorists.”
Haroon appealed to the political leadership of the country to take immediate steps and the state should take action against these terrorists.
“We need to have a united stand to defeat terrorists,” Haroon said. The MQM leader added that parties who have not made their stance clear on this issue (terrorism) now need to make a decision.
The MQM has announced three days of mourning as markets, public transport and educational institutions were closed in Karachi. Hyderabad was also shut down as people burnt tyres to protest against Imam’s killing.
Manzar Imam, his two guards and a driver were dunned down in the Orangi Town in Karachi on Thursday.
