PML-N looking for alliance with other provincial partiesLAHORE: The main opposition party in the country, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), leadership has announced to establish a powerful electoral alliance with the regional parties in other provinces to contest the next general elections jointly. This was declared by the party’s president, Nawaz Sharif, while addressing a joint press conference with the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief, Pir Pagaro, and National Peoples Party (NPP) chief Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi at his residence in Raiwind on Friday. Earlier, both the Sindhi leaders met Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif and expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the death of their brother Abbas Sharif and offered Fateha. Talking to media, Nawaz Sharif criticised the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for its “failures” in Sindh and said that he would make an alliance with other provincial leaders for the uplift of the province. He said that the coalition between the PML-N and other parties in the next general elections would prove beneficial not only for Sindh but for the entire country. Answering different queries, Nawaz accused Tahirul Qadri of forming an alliance with the PPP by agreeing to “Islamabad Long March Declaration.” He said Pakistan’s future lay in a democratic system of government. In an apparent reference to Qadri, he said that those who had been calling for saving the state had left Islamabad. He said that “Sheikhul Islam” had outspokenly challenged the government but haphazardly ended his strike without keeping in view the very consequences of the movement.
