PPP government empowered provinces: Qaim

KHAIRPUR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) government has empowered the provinces.

The chief minister was addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair, a project with estimated cost of Rs.41million, and Date Palm Research Center with estimated cost of Rs.57.283 million, at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur, he said the government wants that Pakistani varsities compete with world class universities.

The chief minister said the provincial government allocated Rs 14 billion to the education sector, while the past governments had allocated only Rs 4 billion in this regard.

Qaim Ali Shah said that the NFC award is a landmark achievement of the present government. Previously the funds were divided on population basis and now the NFC award is being distributed on the basis of multi-criteria including resource generation.

The chief minister said PPP government has empowered the provinces.

He said under this formula the Sindh government has got Rs 55 billion and previously this amount was Rs 23 billion. He said this is a great achievement under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari. (Geo/PPI)
