Nawaz tells people to vote in right people
* PML-N chief says politics should not be used to create rift among people
* Wants uniform local bodies system across Sindh
HYDERABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Saturday urged the nation to exercise their right to vote “carefully and correctly” in the upcoming general elections in order to bring about a positive change in the country.
“Reforms can be brought about and the system can be transformed if voters elect sincere, dedicated and honest representatives so that corrupt practices in all fields can be rooted out,” he said while addressing a public gathering organised by Sindh United Party (SUP) at Hala Bypass, district Matiari.
“If people don’t realise this, anyone can deceive them by staging a drama,” he said.
The PML-N chief said politics should not be used to create rift among people “rather it should be done for the betterment of the nation and common people”.
He said that people have rejected the controversial local government system and are ready to foil any attempt of dividing Sindh. He said that a uniform local bodies system should be implemented in Sindh.
Nawaz Sharif said the long march led by Dr Tahirul Qadri was un-democratic.
“We will not allow a few thousand people to make the entire country hostage for unconstitutional demands,” he said.
The PML-N chief said that had the government run country’s affairs in consultation with the opposition, things would have been entirely different.
He said the government during its five-year tenure has given nothing to people except poverty, inflation, ignorance and poor law and order.
He said there is “unprecedented bloodshed in Karachi but it makes no difference to the government”. He said the role of security agencies must be improved to improve the security situation in Karachi.
“People know who is involved in creating a law and order situation in Karachi,” he added.
Claiming credit for the restoration of judiciary, he said, “We saved the judiciary as the country is strengthened due to the presence of strong institutions.” agencies
