Opposition foiled Qadri’s bid to postpone elections: Fazl
ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the opposition parties have foiled Tahirul Qadri’s bid to postpone general elections.
He expressed these views while talking to media after attending an All-Parties Conference on Kashmir on Saturday. The JUI-F chief, while criticising the Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran head, said, “Tahirul Qadri cannot be given the title of Sheikhul Islam as he (Qadri) doesn’t even deserve to become the ‘Sheikh of Jhang’.” He said that it is needless and a wastage of time to discuss or comment on Qadri’s long march, and termed his long march as a failure. He added that Qadri was destroying the constitution of Pakistan.
The JUI-F chief added that the situation prevailing in the country could not afford such demands. Fazl termed the Kashmir dispute the main hurdle in Pakistan-India relations. He said that the Kashmir issue can only be resolved through dialogue. He said that India has violated the Line of Control and Pakistan has the right to defend itself.
The religious leaders said that the world has different standards on Kashmir and the issue has been put on back burner because of tension on the western border of the country. online
