Eyewitnesses identify Shahrukh Jatoi
KARACHI: Two eyewitnesses on Saturday identified the prime accused in Shahzeb Khan murder case, Shahrukh Jatoi, during an identification parade.
The police presented Shahrukh before the Judicial Magistrate South Waqar Ahmed Soomro for his identification parade. He was brought in an armoured personnel carrier and his face was muffled.
Shahrukh Jatoi was booked for allegedly murdering Shahzeb Khan on December 25th last year over a small argument, after which Jatoi had fled abroad and early on Thursday he was extradited from Dubai after he had surrendered to officials at the Pakistani Consulate.
On the request of the investigation officer, Judicial Magistrate South recorded statements of the two eyewitnesses under Section 164 CrPC.
Police lined up group of persons, including suspected of having committed the crime assembled for the purpose of discovering whether a witness can identify the suspect. Two eyewitnesses, Abid Hussain Baloach and Asghar Hussain, identified accused and said it was he who with other accomplices had sprayed bullets at Shazeb Khan with pistol. Both witnesses submitted that Shahrukh Jatoi fired bullets while he was driving car after which Shahzeb’s car overturned but accused continued to spray bullets.Whereas, Shahrukh Jatoi stated that his face has become much familiar as social media had given him coverage that anyone even a child could identify him without any hiccup.
He contended that both the witnesses had seen his face as they met him at Boat Basin police station yesterday, therefore, they could easily identify him. During the identification parade large number of police as well as media was also present. ppi
