Coalition parties protest against governor’s ruleStaff Report
QUETTA: Coalition parties in Balochistan on Sunday took out rallies in different towns of the province, including Quetta, to protest imposition of Governor’s Rule.
Leaders of the protesting parties were of the view that imposition of Governor’s Rule is “unconstitutional, unjustifiable and tantamount to disrespecting the pubic mandate and it should, therefore, be withdrawn”.
Dozens of activists of Jamiat Uelma-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Balochistan National Party (Awami) took out a rally in Quetta and after marching through different roads of the city, the rally culminated into a pubic gathering at Bacha Khan Chowk. The protesters, carrying their party flags and banners inscribed with different demands, also shouted slogans against imposition of Governor’s Rule.
Speaking on the occasion, JUI-F Senator Hafiz Hamdullah, Dr Abdul Razzaq and other speakers criticised the PPP’s top brass for imposing Governor’s Rule in Balochistan. “Besides President Zardari and Nawab Magsi, officials in uniform are also involved in the conspiracy against Balochistan government,” they alleged.
They said that bomb blasts on Alamdar Road were regrettable “but on the pretext of bomb blasts, snatching mandate of millions of people was a sheer injustice”.
“Governor’s Rule in Balochistan is unconstitutional, thus we strongly demand this decision should be taken back and the democratic government should be restored forthwith,” they said, and warned to come up with massive protests if the government was not restored.
Meanwhile, protest rallies were also held under the JUI-F and BNP-Awami in Nushki, Chaman, Sibbi, Dera Murad Jamali, Loralai, Kalat and other cities where protesters called for immediate withdrawal of Governor’s Rule.
