Qadri says he or his family won’t contest elections
LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s chief and patron of Tehreek-e-Minhajur Quran (TMQ) Tahirul Qadri has said that neither he nor any of his family members will take part in the next general elections even if Minhajul Quran International (MQI) takes part in the polls. Addressing a press conference at the Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town on Tuesday, Qadri said his long march was 100 percent successful and added that his party, named Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), and MQI were free to decide whether they want to take part in the electoral process or not. Reiterating his earlier stance to not contest general elections, the cleric categorically said that neither he nor his family will take part in the upcoming general elections. He went on say that even his daughters and daughters-in-law would not take part in the polls. Qadri asserted that his family members are legally qualified to contest elections, but they would not. staff report
