No delimitation in Karachi before polls: CEC
KARACHI: Chief Election Commissioner Fakruddin G Ebrahim said on Tuesday that there would be no new delimitation of constituencies in Karachi before the general elections.
Talking to media persons during to his visit to Karachi to oversee voters’ verification process, Ebrahim said that up till now the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has not faced any law and order situation, adding he has talked to Karachi Corps Commander and he has assured them that army will support the ECP staff. Ebrahim said that he has accepted the post of CEC as a mission to hold free, fair and transparent election in the country.
Responding to a query, he rejected the reports about his resignation from the post of CEC and said he has accepted the job as a challenge and was determined and committed to hold free and fair election in the country.
Ebrahim appreciated the cooperation of the people with the staff of the election commission during door-to-door verification of voters’ lists and said the process is underway in a good way. He said whenever the caretaker government comes into power, he would work with it. agencies
