Judiciary fully independent, strong, well supported: EbadKARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan on Wednesday said the judiciary in Pakistan was fully independent, strong and well supported by the masses.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has been playing a leading role and has given a new dimension to judiciary and its verdicts. That, nothing can harm the country having an independent judiciary, the governor said.
He was talking to a delegation led by Chief Justice of Libya Supreme Court, Justice Kamal B.A. Dhan here at the governor’s House. Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court Justice Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan was also present.
The governor said that Pakistani people had rendered many sacrifices for the independence of judiciary. Today, he continued, “We see a bright future of the country only because of the independent judiciary”.
He said the government wanted and has been working for provision of easy, quick and inexpensive justice to the common man. For this purpose, he said, the judiciary was going through reforms. The trickle down effect of these reforms can be witnessed at the lower level and the people have been duly benefitted.
He said the judiciary in Pakistan had won credibility and new identity throughout the world and was being held in high esteem.
Chief Justice of Libya Supreme Court, Justice Kamal B.A. Dhan briefed the Governor about the judiciary’s working in his country and said it was very much independent even during the days of dictatorship.
There were separate courts to deal with the political matters, he informed.
He said that for bringing the laws into Islamic framework, the constitution was being amended.
He said that Libya had now witnessed a great change and the people were reaping the fruit of democracy in the country. The Libyan nation has entered a new era of independence and thus the burden over the judiciary has increased. However, the judiciary was trying its best to come to the people’s expectations and ensure easy provision of justice to all.
Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan said it was very encouraging for Pakistani judicial system that Chief Justices of the Supreme Courts from seven countries visited Pakistan during last one year besides their higher judges and benefitted from our judicial system. app
