Karachi will again be made ‘city of lights’: Nawaz

LAHORE: PML-N President Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday restoration of law and order, particularly in Karachi would be on top of the party’s agenda if it comes to power in the next general elections.

Talking to leaders of PML-N Sindh, he asked party leaders to prepare for the forthcoming general elections, keep a close liaison with people and hold consultations to forge an alliance with political parties.

“A plan will be chalked out in consultation with all peace-loving parties and people to rid Karachi of lawlessness and crime and make it the city of lights again,” he said.

The PML-N chief added, “If Karachi is peaceful, it will benefit entire Pakistan.”

Nawaz Sharif said that in order to restore peace in Karachi, there is dire need for re-organisation of police and to rid the force of political pressure.

On the occasion, leaders of PML-N Sindh said that there is need for correction of voter lists of Karachi upon which Nawaz Sharif directed PML-N Sindh President Syed Ghaus Ali Shah to take immediate notice of the matter.

Nawaz Sharif said that like in the federation and other provinces, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had made the people of Sindh “despondent”, adding that people would make the PPP dejected in the forthcoming general elections.

The leadership of PML-N Sindh, on the other hand, has started chalking out a programme to hold public meetings of Nawaz Sharif in Sindh.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ghaus Ali Shah, Liaquat Jatoi, Saleem Zia, Mushahidullah Khan, Ameer Bakhsh Bhutto, Imdad Chandio, Nihal Hashmi, Marvi Memon, Irfanullah Marwat and Zain Ansari also attended the Saturday meeting. online
