Apex committees formed to implement National Action Plan

LAHORE - Apex committees, consisting of both military and political leadership, have been formed in all provinces to coordinate the security matters and implement the recently approved National Action Plan.
To kick off the process of implementation, special meeting of the Punjab Apex Committee was held at Corps Headquarters in Lahore, on Saturday. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif along with senior provincial officials attended the meeting. Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif also attended the meeting, underpinning the importance of civil-military coordination mechanism.
Corps Commanders from across the province were present in the meeting. The forum reviewed the prevalent internal security situation in Punjab in the context of National Action Plan. Speaking on the occasion, the army chief said, “Key to success lies in wholehearted participation of society and ensuring harmony among all intelligence and law enforcing agencies at every level.”
“Failure to eliminate all manifestations of extremism and terrorism at the grass roots level in our country is not an option, no matter what the cost. Yesterday All Parties Conference's resolve of the national leadership to root out terrorism from our soil will serve as a force multiplier,” he added. General Sharif assured the forum of army's full support to the provincial government for judicious and speedy action against all forces of evil on the soil of Pakistan.
Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the wholehearted support of Pakistan Army and reiterated the resolve of the provincial government to cleanse the province of terrorism and extremism. He emphasised the importance of joint execution of a comprehensive security plan within laid down parameters and timelines.
