By Asim Yasin
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Monday submitted a calling attention notice to the National Assembly Secretariat over raise in the development cost of 28 projects initiated during the tenure of the PML-N government.
Through the notice Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Ms. Shazia Mari, Mrs. Shahida Rehmani and Ms Shagufta Jummani stated that they wanted to draw the attention of Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal to the massive rise in the development cost of at least 28 projects approved under the federal PSDP in 2012-13 & 2013-14 causing grave concern among the public.
The notice stated the estimated cost of these projects had reached Rs200 billion from the original cost of around Rs50 billion. The PPP legislators were of opinion that it was important to note that the cost had increased manifold despite the fact that inflation had significantly dropped during the said period. “It is a serious matter needing immediate attention of the house,” the notice stated.
