Transparency in public spending through enriched human resource management top priority: AGP

ISLAMABAD - Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), Rana Assad Amin has reiterated to play its constitutional role for ensuring transparency in public spending through enriched human resource management and institutional strengthening.
He stated this while chairing a high level monthly review meeting in his office here on the affairs of Pakistan Audit and Accounts Academy, (PAAS) Lahore. In this regard, the Auditor General observed that the young officers who were under training in the "Pakistan Audit and Accounts Academy" Lahore need to be equipped with professional competence and management skills.
Rector, Pakistan Audit and Accounts Academy, Lahore Imran Iqbal apprised the meeting about progress on the issues of revision of syllabi of Specialized Training Program (STP) for the new entrants in Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service, training of trainers, collaboration with other training establishments (local as well as foreign), and establishment of Research and Development (R&D) Cell in the Academy. Auditor General of Pakistan, while appreciating the efforts of the existing management of the Academy, re-emphasized his priority to make the Academy as the Center of Excellence.
Since assuming his office as the Auditor General of Pakistan, Rana Assad Amin has been striving to focus on strengthening the institutional capacity through human resource development. The AGP has a vision to introduce the young probationary officers of the PAAS with the latest concepts of audit techniques/audit methodology and public financial management to meet the emerging professional challenges. The foregoing initiatives are in line with the newly devised Strategic Plan (2015-19) of the Department of the AGP, which also aims at developing the capacity of the human resource to cope with the emerging needs.
Auditor General of Pakistan was apprised, during the meeting, that coordination with foreign donors like World Bank, USAID, and DFID etc. through the Economic Affairs Division is in process to manage funding for training of trainers at the Academy, updating training material and equipment and facilitating training of PAAS officers.
