No proofs of corruption found against Dr Asim: Khaqan Abbasi
INPISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that no proofs of corruption have been found against ex-minister of PPP Dr Asim Hussain in files of the ministry and neither the ministry was consulted before his arrest.
Talking to a private TV channel on Wednesday, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that he will not level any allegations against Dr Asim without evidences and proofs.
However, he said that Rangers made contact with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Pipelines Limited (SSGPL) prior arrest of ex-minister and now it was the responsibility of the two to provide evidences to the organisations involved in the investigation in this regard. Regarding LNG agreement with Qatar, the minister said work on LNG agreement was in full swing, besides removing the gas shortage issue that will also save a significant amount of Rs 100 billion for the national exchequer. He said that work on five terminals of LNG was in progress while development work on one has been completed. There is not alternate other than LNG to overcome the gas crisis in the country, he remarked.
